It’s Still Raining at Stonehenge…

Destinations, UK

Stonehenge

June 21st, 2011. Today marked the first day of summer – my very favourite season. Thousands  gathered at Stonehenge this morning, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK, to celebrate the summer solstice.

I had the opportunity to visit Stonehenge a little over two weeks ago and it was raining then. Guess what? It’s still raining! Surprise, surprise. Although I must say, the rain adds to the mystique of of site.

All you’re basically looking at are some gigantic rocks, but it was definitely something on my list of things to see during my UK trip. I love looking at rocks. Despite the hordes of tourists, it’s a very magical place. These rocks have been here for thousands of years and it’s certainly a site to behold. The site was built between 3000 B.C. and 1600 B.C., at a time when they didn’t have any heavy lifting equipment. I mean, how did they get them there? They are gigantic!
