My Love for Bagpipers

March 12, 2011

Destinations, UK

I am one of those rare people who actually get excited when they see a bagpiper playing on the streets of Toronto.  Most people plug their ears and keep walking.  I could listen to them drone on for hours.

This past summer when I went to Edinburgh, bagpipers were at the top of my list of things I wanted to see – kind of odd, I know. Let me tell you, there were bagpipers galore. Fat ones, skinny ones, young ones, old ones, hippie bagpipers, rocker bagpipers – you name it, they were there.

Since I was there in the midst of the famed Fringe Festival, the streets were crammed with people. The fact that I was there during the midst of this month long festival, may have had something to do with the fact that the bagpipers were out in full force.

After my week long trip, I still had not solved the age old question – do they actually wear anything under their kilts?
